Mileage Anytime

You can enter mileage as it occurs, and a lot of our users do. Others have been really, really happy to do all their mileage at a sitting, or multiple sittings, as the case may be, entering all of their historical mileage records sometime later on… which is to say maybe long after they happened. Either works. And this is whole lot easier than sitting at a computer with Google Maps. It is.

Whether you do one way or the other, the Mileage Un-app behaves the same. If you don’t have a good understanding of Mileage behavior read Two Mileage Types.

Starting with two basic types of mileage entries. (1) one has one location piece (2) the other has two location pieces… for historical records, you should still enter these in sequence in order to take advantage of the built-in inheritance characteristics of mileage records.

Enter your historical mileage records in the order in which they occur. Include the date, and the date will populate as entered. Records created without a date will default to today’s date. Avoid using stand alone records when you can. This makes your job easier.

Keep in mind, Mileage will look back three days for an incomplete mileage record, and if one is not found then you will receive a record indicating a need to revise the record and to include a start location. Three days. This look-back limitation also applies to records created same day. In other words, if it has been three days since you entered a mileage record, maybe you should include two locations.
